EX-CHILD PROTECTION COP ADMITS CHILD PORN AND EXTREME SEX CRIMES

A ‘respectable’ former police child protection officer has admitted possessing and making indecent images of kids.

Robert Branney, 69, was a police officer for 28 years before retiring but is now a registered sex offender.

He admitted possession of indecent images of children, making an indecent photograph of a child and possession of an extreme image portraying a sex act with a dog.

Prosecuting, Alison May said Branney, from St Austell, Cornwall, was a man of good character prior to these incidents.

Defending, Chris Spencer said Branney was absolutely devastated by the situation he was in and that he had put his family in.

He was bailed to appear at Truro Crown Court on May 12 and was told he needed to register as a sex offender.
