He was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where he died on Saturday evening.

The driver of the car, who is from nearby Dursley, is helping police with their enquiries but has not been arrested.

Yesterday (Sun) Rednock School in Dursley, which Louis attended, paid tribute to the student.

A statement said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Louis.

“It is at times like this that the community is vital; the school will do everything that it can to support those near and dear to Louis and to support any student affected by this sad loss.

“We have counsellors and trained support staff ready to help the students. The school will pull together to ensure that we do all that we can at this time.”

Anyone who witnessed the collision but hasn’t spoken to police should call 101 and quote incident 479 of 20 May.
