MAN THREW RUBBISH AT PASSING POLICE CAR TO TRY AND SHOW OFF TO NEW GIRLFRIEND

A love-struck man tried to “impress his girlfriend” by throwing rubbish at a passing police car.

The couple were on their first date on Tuesday night after meeting in a nightclub in Cambridge, Cambs., when he tried to show off.

But the young man failed to realise the vehicle he’d targeted was actually an unmarked police car.

The officers stopped abruptly and spoke to the man, giving him a slap on the wrist before ordering him to go home.

The act prompted a stern warning from police about putting lives at risk by throwing objects.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said: “Throwing rubbish at a moving vehicle, no matter how small, could cause a collision and put someone’s life at risk.”

The incident was reported by Cambridge Police on its Twitter account.

Officers tweeted: “Drunk male on #BridgeSt thought it would be funny & would impress the girl he just met in a club to throw rubbish at a passing car.”
