Practice Education Radiographer Lorraine Whyte said: “Every day at The Beatson we see and treat people dealing with the enormity of a cancer diagnosis. Sadly for some they will spend this Christmas in hospital and away from their loved ones. Together the Radiographers at The Beatson decided to do something different to raise funds to support our patients this Christmas. We have been crafting for months and have an array of Christmas gifts ready for our first ever Christmas Market at the concert. Beatson Cancer Charity does so much for patients including making sure every patient has a gift to open on Christmas morning, this is the very reason we are coming together to fundraise.”

With superb musical performances, festive readings, Christmas drinks and scrumptious mince pies, the fundraising concert will capture the true spirit of Christmas this festive season.

Nicholas McDonald said: “I’m thrilled to be performing at this year’s Christmas Concert. Cancer affects so many people and I want to do what I can to give my support for this very worthwhile cause. I visited the Beatson Cancer Charity Wellbeing Centre and was so inspired by the care and comfort the facility and staff provides. I can’t wait to get on that stage and entertain Team Beatson!”

Morag Cunningham, Head of Fundraising said: “We were overwhelmed by the popularity of our Christmas Concert last winter, so this year’s concert aims to bring families and friends together again for another fantastic festive evening.

“Christmas can be an especially difficult time for people living with cancer. Donations are so important to the charity and this Christmas we want to ensure that our patients have a memorable experience and spend precious time comfortably with loved ones. So let’s come together to make this a big Beatson Christmas to remember.”

All funds raised from the event will help the charity provide vital specialist staff posts including nursing, radiography, physics and research-based staff as well as funding enhanced medical equipment, innovative service developments, research projects and educational initiatives to support the 8000 new patients who attend The Beatson and its related facilities each year.
