NURSE STRUCK OFF FOR SLAPPIGN 90YO DEMENTIA PATIENT

NURSE SUSPENDED FOR CALLING ELDERLY PATIENT FRANKENSTEIN

A nurse has been struck off after assaulting a 90-year-old dementia sufferer in a care home – by SLAPPING her twice across the face.

Daniela Musca, 47, struck the elderly woman while working at Collamere Nursing Home in Lostwithiel, Cornwall in January 2014.

She had claimed the woman hit her in the face beforehand – but a panel at the Nursing and Midwifery Council agreed her response was excessive and has ordered her to be removed from the nursing register.

The nurse had claimed she had not intended to hurt the lady and responded when she was punched in the face.

However a colleague came forward to say she could not believe her eyes when she witnessed the slaps.

Musca had earlier been convicted of assault in February 2015 at Bodmin Magistrates Court.

No one from Collamere Nursing Home was available for comment.
