MURDER PROBE AFTER WOMAN STABBED TO DEATH IN THE STREET

Police are investigating the 'unexplained and sudden' death of a 10 year-old boy at his home. Paramedics were called to a property in Ilfracombe, Devon near the town's Lidl supermarket around 7am today. (Monday) Half an hour later they called police confirming the "sudden death" of the youngster, who has not been named. Devon and Cornwall police launched an investigation and said the death was being treated as "unexplained". Officers have not confirmed the boy's exact address but say the child's family have been informed.

Police have launched a murder enquiry following the death of a woman who suffered multiple stab wounds.

Officers were called by a member of the public at around 12.40pm today (Thurs) following a disturbance outside a property in Paignton., Devon.

Police and ambulance attended the scene and found a woman in her 30s outside the property. She had sustained a number of knife wounds.

She was taken to Torbay District Hospital by ambulance where she later died. Police have yet to formally identify the woman and are currently locating next of kin.

A 22-year-old man from Torquay has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody awaiting questioning.

Police are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.

A police spokesman said: “We were called by a member of a public to a report of a disturbance in Winner Street.

“It was claimed that a wounded female was outside a property in Winner Street.

“Police and ambulance were called and a woman in her 30s has been taken to Torbay Hospital in a critical condition.

“One man is in police custody in connection with the incident.”

An ambulance spokesman confirmed that they had been called at 12.45pm and treated a female before taking her to Torbay Hospital by land ambulance. An air ambulance was also called but was not required.

Winner Street is currently cordoned off by police.
