A massive rubbish truck was caught on camera ramming into a parked car – and smashing it back more than 30 feet.
During an early morning refuse collection the truck driver reversed at speed, round a corner, before slamming into the back of the parked Lexus and causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.
After first making contact with the vehicle the driver stopped for a couple of seconds, before reversing again and knocking the damaged black luxury motor across two entire parking bays before the car bashed into a lamppost.
In the footage, captured early on Monday morning by a restaurant CCTV camera, the driver is then seen causally strolling towards the smashed car to inspect the damage.
Pathmamohan Muhilan (doub corr), the owner of the ruined Lexus, said he wants to find the driver and make sure he never drives again.
Pathmamohan, who is the principal at Croydon Metropolitan College, south London, claims the driver fled without leaving any details.
The dad-of-one said: “I always park it on that road, I have done so for two years.
“I was so shocked that the car had been moved a whole two spaces when I got back to it.
“I was traumatised at the audacity of the driver that he pushed the car to get closer to the bins he was collecting.
“It’s an absolute joke, I have no words. I want to find out who he is and make sure he never drives a lorry again.
“It is a blatant disregard for other people’s property.
“He blatantly knew my car was there. He stopped and then carried on doing it.”
After the incident in Croydon, south London on Monday, Croydon Council have placed the blame on sub-contracted company Veolia.
In a statement the council said: “Croydon Council expects high standards of conduct from our contractors and we have ordered a full investigation into this incident.”
Veolia said: “We have launched a full investigation into the incident and our insurers are in the process of contacting Mr Muhilan to resolve this situation.
“All of our drivers receive extensive vehicle handling and safety training and we take any failures to comply with these requirements extremely seriously.”
Pathmamohan, from Selsdon, south London, added: “The car is at the garage at the moment.
“The boot does not open and the wing mirror has also broken after the car hit the lamppost.
“The front bumper is scratched and cracked and the number plate is cracked as well.
“It is thousands of pounds worth of damage.
“God knows how many people he has done this to.
“I want the driver to be sacked immediately. I do not want him to be able to drive public vehicles ever again.
“The company should go through the insurance company and reimburse me.
“I have contacted the private company who are responsible for the damage.
“I can’t borrow my wife’s car and I am not sure how I’m going to get to my daily meetings.
“I am extremely annoyed and upset.”
