For the first time in its history, Bittles Bar, a Belfast institution, has released a Christmas advert for 2024, starring its legendary landlord, John Bittles.
The advert, produced by Emerald Green Media for Ireland Before You Die, premiered on YouTube on Monday, 25th November, at 8 PM.
Entitled Bittles Bar Christmas Advert 2024, the film captures the essence of the bar and its renowned no-nonsense landlord. John Bittles, known for his unapologetically candid hospitality, has become a Belfast icon. The advert celebrates his distinctive style, presenting Bittles Bar as a must-visit destination.
“This ad is a celebration of Bittles Bar and its unique character,” said Stevie Haughey, founder of Emerald Green Media. “It’s a blend of festive charm and humour that reflects John Bittles’ distinctive style. Everyone involved brought their best to this project, and we’re proud of the final result.”
The production marks Emerald Green Media’s first video advert and includes an acting debut by Haughey’s 87-year-old uncle. Directed by Ronan Lavery, the project also marks Lavery’s first paid directorial role.
Set against the vibrant streets of Belfast and the warm interiors of Bittles Bar, the advert blends cinematic visuals with John’s sharp humour, offering a fresh take on traditional Christmas campaigns.
The advert is now available exclusively on Ireland Before You Die’s YouTube channel.
