At Cersaie 2026, VitrA Tiles presented The Code concept and its latest innovations to sector professionals, guided by its Material Intelligence approach.
Bologna, Italy: VitrA Tiles took part in Cersaie 2026, the international exhibition devoted to ceramic tiles and bathroom furnishings, held in Bologna, Italy from 21 to 25 September, where it welcomed architects, designers, customers and professionals from across the sector. With the Material Intelligence concept at the heart of its presence, VitrA Tiles unveiled its 2027 collections and innovations.
“Every material has a code. Material Intelligence deciphers it.” This idea sits at the centre of the design philosophy of VitrA Tiles, which reimagines materials found in nature by bringing together research, advanced technology and design know-how. Building on both the aesthetic and the technical possibilities that nature offers, VitrA Tiles turns these materials into distinctive surfaces that open up fresh sources of inspiration for contemporary architecture.
A Trio of Design Languages
Through The Code concept, three design languages give rise to the Resincode, Geocode and Metacode collections, which visitors to Cersaie will be able to see on the VitrA Tiles stand.
Resincode takes its cue from the porous, mineral-rich character of natural concrete, with organic transitions and layered surface effects, giving contemporary interiors a minimalist, balanced and refined look. Geocode is inspired by limestone, marble, quartzite and gneiss from Spain, translating the varied geological legacy of natural stone onto ceramic surfaces in a contemporary manner, and offers four different surface types: Alba, Imperio, Rio and Merano. Metacode comprises three separate surfaces in tones of gold, iron and copper, carrying the gentle tonal shifts and soft sheen of patinated metal onto ceramic surfaces and marrying an industrial feel with refined elegance.
Fresh Technologies on Show
Alongside the new collections, VitrA Tiles also used Cersaie 2026 to present its V-Flex and V-Tone innovations.
Driven by the Ceraloc® locking technology from Välinge, V-Flex is an adhesive-free approach to tile installation. Its specially designed edge profiles enable the tiles to be joined mechanically and, in contrast with traditional bonded installations, the system promises application up to five times quicker. It allows accurate alignment, uniform grout joints and a neat, professional result. Where necessary, single tiles can be taken out and replaced, a considerable benefit that makes maintenance and repair simpler. The system delivers acoustic comfort as well. V-Flex is suggested for retail outlets, chains of stores, showrooms, offices, hotels, educational establishments and commercial premises.
Addressing the tonal variations that arise in ceramic production, V-Tone preserves colour consistency and the integrity of the design from one surface to another. Work to integrate V-Tone technology into the production lines of VitrA Tiles is ongoing.
