AI-Driven Sustainability at Ekoten Tekstil Transforms Textile Manufacturing

Ekoten Tekstil, a subsidiary of Sun Tekstil and a key player in textile manufacturing, is harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and sustainability in its production processes. Through AI-powered defect detection, the company ensures superior fabric quality while minimising waste, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable textile manufacturing. This real-time monitoring technology improves precision, optimises resources, and significantly reduces environmental impact.

“Our AI-driven systems allow us to detect and correct textile defects before they lead to unnecessary reprocessing, reducing waste and optimising resource use,” said Sabri Ünlütürk, Vice Chairman of the Board of Sun Tekstil and Ekoten Tekstil. “This technology strengthens both efficiency and sustainability in our manufacturing processes.”

Water Conservation through AI Technology in Textile Production

The textile industry is one of the largest consumers of water, with dyeing and finishing stages responsible for almost 20% of global industrial water pollution. Ekoten Tekstil’s AI system addresses this issue by detecting defects early in production, reducing the need for re-dyeing and reprocessing, and ultimately cutting water usage.

With increasing droughts affecting industries and communities globally, water conservation has become a crucial focus. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that droughts impact 55 million people annually, worsening water shortages across multiple sectors. By improving operational efficiency and minimising unnecessary water consumption, Ekoten Tekstil plays an active role in global sustainability efforts.

Commitment to Sustainability and Workforce Inclusion

Ekoten Tekstil’s dedication to sustainability goes beyond water conservation. The company has again received an A rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) Climate Change assessment, outperforming the global textile industry’s B rating and the worldwide average of C. Additionally, it has maintained an A/Leadership ranking in the CDP Supplier Engagement Ranking for three consecutive years, placing it among the top sustainable supply chain leaders worldwide.

In addition to its environmental initiatives, Ekoten Tekstil champions workplace inclusivity, with women taking on key leadership and production roles. This focus on diversity aligns with the company’s broader vision of integrating innovation with ethical business practices.

“Innovation is not just about technology—it’s also about fostering an inclusive and forward-thinking workplace,” Ünlütürk said. “At Ekoten Tekstil, we believe that sustainable success comes from both operational advancements and a diverse, empowered workforce.”

By continuously investing in AI technology, sustainable practices, and workplace inclusivity, Ekoten Tekstil is shaping a more responsible and forward-thinking future for the textile industry.
