VitrA Tiles Strengthens its Sustainability Goals with Aksaray Solar Power Plant

VitrA Tiles has officially put its Aksaray solar power plant into operation, marking another key milestone in its sustainability strategy.

As a prominent brand within the Eczac?ba?? Group, VitrA Tiles remains focused on expanding its renewable energy capacity. The completion of the Aksaray Solar Power Plant (SPP) follows the successful commissioning of a 3.5 MW rooftop solar facility in Bozüyük in 2023. With its 30 MWe/36 MWp capacity, this new development ensures that more than 50% of the electricity used in VitrA Tiles’ Turkish operations this year will be derived from clean energy sources.

Transitioning to a More Sustainable Energy Future

The Aksaray plant is designed to meet a substantial portion of the company’s electricity needs. Equipped with 65,520 PV modules, each boasting a 550 Wp capacity, the facility will generate enough power for approximately 19,700 households annually while cutting carbon emissions by 37,190 tonnes per year.

VitrA Tiles CEO Mert Karasu reaffirmed the company’s renewable energy vision, stating: “We aim to produce half of our electricity consumption from our own renewable energy facilities by 2025 and all of it by 2030 and thanks to this investment, we are one step closer to our global goals by further reducing our carbon footprint. We are committed to meeting all our electricity needs from renewable sources in the future.”

The Aksaray SPP construction began in April 2024, with electricity production starting in February 2025 following the completion of PV module installations, inverters, transformers, cabling, and power transmission lines. This initiative not only offers environmental and economic benefits but also solidifies VitrA Tiles’ role as a leader in sustainable energy within the industry.
