A WOMAN has had the profile pictures of her Facebook friends tattooed onto her entire arm.
The woman from the Netherlands had the photos of 152 friends permanently inked onto her body and describes the body-art as her ‘social tattoo’.
She filmed herself getting the tattoo, which covers the length of her entire right arm, and posted the video on YouTube.
“After months of work I want to show you all my social tattoo,” said the woman, who does not want to be identified, but goes by YouTube username susyj87.
“Pretty amazing right? I’m really proud of it. Hope you like it too.
“Of course I gave it a lot of thought.
“These are not all my friends. Just the people I care most about. I got their permission and they were very proud to be on it.
“To me it represents who I am right now and the time we live in. And of course I love the looks of it.”
The tattoo was done by Rotterdam-based tattoo artist, Dehvyathe Xaviera Moelker, also known as Dex.
The woman appears to have been inspired by Netherlands-based company which prints people’s Facebook friends’ photos on a range of products, from clocks, bags and IKEA furniture to a Mini Cooper car.
But the fickle nature of Facebook has prompted people to question the practicality of having a “permanent friends list” made.
“Yeah, it looks cool, but friends aren’t forever, especially on Facebook,” said one YouTube user.
Another said: “The tattoo is very nicely done and it looks really awesome, but the whole idea is really superficial in my opinion.”
“What happens when someone deletes you? Do you blacken out their pic on your stupid arm?” another asked.
And another quipped: “what happens when one of them changes; their profile pic?”
However, others were more positive.
“I think she knows friends aren’t forever and all, but I also think the idea goes a bit deeper than that,” one said.
“It’s a fairly original sleeve, I like it,” added another.
