PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER RAPED PUPIL

PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER RAPED PUPIL

A schoolgirl has described how she was raped three times in a classroom by the head of a geography at a top girls’ public school.

Kato Cruwys Harris, 37, is accused of three counts of raping a girl under the age of 16 while working as the head of geography at £17,000 a year South Hampstead High School for Girls.

Harris, of Richmond, south-west London, denies the charges, claiming that he had suffered a “complete loss of libido” following the breakdown of his marriage.

This afternoon (Mon), at Isleworth Crown Court, the jury was shown a police interview with the alleged victim, who describes each alleged incident.

The victim told police officer Angela Hooley: “I was raped three times at my old school. It all happened on Mondays during lunchtime in a geography classroom.”

Asked who the perpetrator was, the girl said: “Mr Harris,” and described him as “quite tall with dark hair and glasses”.

The first incident, according to the victim, took place on October 14, 2013 during a lunch break.

She said: “It was a normal school day. Then I was going down the corridor and he asked to see me and said that he wanted to talk to me.

“We went into the class, then it was all very sudden. It was very quick. He raped me.”

She added: “He pushed me down on the floor by my arms and shoulders. He stepped forward so he was standing close to me.

“He took off my tights with his hands. I was on my knees with my arms in front of me on the floor.

“He undid his trousers then entered me, I guess. I was frozen. I was scared. I didn’t know what was happening.

“It just stopped and he stood up and didn’t say anything. I pulled up my pants and tights and ran out to the toilet.”

The next incident, the court heard, took place on November 25, 2013, at a time when the alleged victim says she was “quite stressed”.

She said: “I was having quite a lot of panic attacks during that period, I was hyperventilating. I was quite stressed out about what had happened.

“This time, he just asked to talk to me again. I just went with it. I wasn’t doing anything, so I just went with.

“I was having a tough time so I thought he was asking about that – I was on edge.”

The girl described Harris again putting his hand on her shoulders, pushing her to the floor, raping her and getting up without saying anything.

Asked what she could hear during the incident, the girl said: “His breathing. It was laboured, I guess. I just remember being scared and not knowing what to do.

“I went again to the toilet. I was embarrassed and scared. It felt painful.”

Asked whether she had suffered any injuries as a result of the attack, she said: “I didn’t check.”

The third incident, the girl alleges, was almost exactly the same as the first two incidents.

She said: “He asked to see me, to talk about school stuff then forced and pushed me down.

“I was scared it was going to happen again because it had happened twice before.

“But I just went with it because I was having a tough time and I thought it might be different.

“I wasn’t doing anything else. I didn’t really think about what I was doing.”

The girl reported the rapes less than a week after the final attack in December 2013.

Asked how she felt about the incidents, the girl said: “I’m glad I told someone and done all this – it’s just scary because I was worried about what might happen.

“I just didn’t know what was going to happen.”

Harris, dressed in two-piece dark suit and red tie, made notes throughout the video.

He denies three counts of rape of a girl under the age of 16.

The trial continues.
