Gino Pozzo Confirms: He Is Not Selling Watford

When Gino Pozzo first took ownership of the Watford Football Club, fans had a lot on their minds. While the club was previously a contender in the Premier League, it had fallen on hard times and was no longer a sure thing for inclusion in the league. It was much more of a Championship team than a Premier team.

Pozzo saw potential and promise at Watford, and he committed to nurturing and growing the club. Since that day, fans have come to appreciate Pozzo. While Watford is not a top contender to champion the league every year, fans have grown comfortable with expecting to see Watford compete as a Premier team.

It took a couple of years to turn things around, but under Pozzo’s ownership, Watford has been a regular in the Premier League.

That’s why many fans were concerned when rumors began to circulate, suggesting that Pozzo was interested in selling the team. They liked what Pozzo had done, and they were hopeful that Watford would continue to grow under his leadership.

For those fans, good news has come. Pozzo and the team have formally confirmed that there is no intention to sell. Gino Pozzo is as dedicated to the success of Watford as he was in 2012 (when he purchased the club). He has gone on formal record, and fans can assume that Pozzo will be around for a while.

The rumors surrounding Watford seem to be tied to separate rumors that suggest Pozzo is interested in purchasing another team. After all, his family owns a football club in Italy, and that was the inspiration for Gino to invest in Watford in the first place.

Pozzo and the club have not addressed these secondary rumors, and it’s entirely possible that the Pozzo family is interested in another football club.

Regardless, Gino Pozzo will remain at the head of Watford, and he is clearly devoted to Watford’s success.

That’s a good thing too because the most recent years for Watford haven’t been quite as nice. Fans were getting used to life in the Premier League, but in two of the last three seasons, Watford was relegated back to the Championship League.

Clearly, some things need to change at Watford if the club is going to mature and take its place as a top-tier Premier competitor. Fortunately for those weary, those changes won’t include new club ownership.

As for what comes next for Watford, it’s up in the air. The team will compete in the Championship League for the 2023 season. If recent results are any indication, Watford will reclaim a place in the Premier League. From there, changes in roster, coaching, or even philosophy will be necessary if they want to step up to the level of their greatest rivals.

The Premier League is the ultimate place for football competition, and Gino Pozzo and Watford have been on the cusp for a while. Perhaps a few tweaks can make the difference, and Pozzo and Watford fans will finally have what they have chased and believed in for so long.
